10 Foodie things I have been buying & loving.

I love finding new things to try and I am always finding new things when shopping at Tesco. They may not be new to some people but they are to me.

Some of these things, the party food are on offer for 3 for £5 so I always buy 3 things to save a little money...

These are the things I have been loving over the last month or so....

Mr Gladstones Curious Emporium Pear Drop wine - £4.00
A refreshingly delicious treat, bursting with traditional confectionery flavour of Pear Drop. Best served chilled or over ice.

I thought this would be sickly and too sweet but it really isn't....It tastes exactly like pear drops and is delicious. There is also a Strawberry Bon Bon flavour one but that is too sweet for me....

Malt-O-Meal Marshmallow Mateys Cereal - £3.00
Sugar Frosted Whole Grain Oat Cereal with Marshmallows.

These seem to be a cheaper version of Lucky Charms. They don't really taste any different and they are a couple of pound cheaper. It's more than I would normally pay for cereal but they are a once a week treat for the kids and maybe more than once a week for me. hehehe

Mr Kipling Festive Bakewell Tarts - £1.00
A Light Pastry Case filled with a layer of fruity plum and raspberry jam, moist almond flavour sponge and soft icing. A festive twist on a legendary classic.

I am a sucker for anything with festive in the name and these are so good....

Apricot And Custard Lattice - £1.05 for 2.
Danish pastry lattice with custard and apricot filling.

These are my favourite treat for the day the shopping is delivered.

Chicken Stuffing Bites With Gravy - £2.00
Succulent chicken pieces are coated in a delicious sage and onion batter, served with a gravy dip.

These are just perfect for snacking on but also go well with chips or some mash and veg. The chicken pieces are so good but the gravy supplied is not. It just looks and tastes like meaty oil.

Chocolate And Hazelnut Filled Mini Churros - £2.00
Treat yourself with this Spanish street food favourite. Chocolate and hazelnut churros. Cooked from frozen in 12 minutes. Enjoy with the sugar lightly sprinkled over the top.

These are a seasonal thing....We had them for the first time this time last year and then they vanished from Tesco in January. They are back now so we're making the most of them. I think we have had them every Saturday evening for the past few weeks. They are delicious straight out of the oven when they are cooled slightly.

Corn dogs - £2.00 for 6.
Pork and beef sausage coated in a cornmeal batter on a skewer.

These are in the party food section and my girls and I love them. We have had them on party teas and for lunches with corn on the cob....I will be stocking up on them because I imagine they will only be on sale until just after Christmas.

Ham Hock In Creamy Cider Sauce - £2.00
Pulled ham hock in a creamy cider sauce served with a buttery mashed potato, from frozen in the microwave in only 10 minutes.

I had this for my tea on Friday night and it was one of those meals I could of happily ate again straight away, not because I wasn't full but because it was so good. The ham was delicious and the cider sauce was amazing. Even the mash was perfect. Usually mash from frozen is rubbery and not nice but this was perfect.

Ready Rolled Round Pizza Dough £1.30
Ready rolled pizza dough base.

I am rubbish at making dough for pizza bases so I always buy ready made. This is the best one I have ever found. We can then add whatever toppings we like. My favourite topping at the moment is tomato puree, onions, mushrooms, salami, pineapple and cheese.

Bubble And Squeak Bites - £1.00
A mix of potato, carrot, onion and cabbage lightly seasoned with sea salt, black pepper and nutmeg.

My girls love these. They have had them with spaghetti hoops or baked beans as a quick meal....The girls and I don't like cabbage but will happily eat it in these.

What new foodie things have you been trying lately?

  1. Oh the pear drop wine sounds nice. I don't go to Tesco often but might have to go get some of that.
