My Top 10 Favourite Movies EVER!

The lovely Gemma listed her top 10 favourite movies EVER and thought I would copy her idea and do my own top ten too....

I've always said I hate action movies but looking at my list I seem a bit of a fibber but the difference is most of the one's I've chosen are action/comedy films....

In no particular order.....

Demolition Man

LA cop John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) nicknamed 'Demolition Man' due to his hands-on approach to law enforcement, is condemned to 70 years in the penal freezer after being set up by Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes), Public Enemy Number One. Halfway through his sentence both he and Phoenix are catapulted out of captivity, discovering their city has been transformed into a peaceful utopia, under the benevolent rule of mayor Dr Cocteau (Nigel Hawthorne). As a mysteriously pumped-up Phoenix carries on where he had left off 35 years earlier, Spartan teams up with a comparatively feisty cop (Sandra Bullock) to bring him to justice and expose the man who is engineering the whole scenario.

I love this film and have seen it so many times. I know most of Wesley Snipes lines word for word.....He had all the best lines....hehehe

Titanic

There is no need for me to add a description....We all know what it's about....Such a girly film but I love it.....I went to the pictures to see something else I can't remember what but I missed the start....This was the next film which was starting so I decided to see this.....It was amazing! I bought it on DVD as soon as it came out and remember watching it with my dad. Awkward when it came to the romantic scenes....lol I still say Jack didn't need to drown....hehehe

Dirty Dancing

This has to be the ultimate chick-flick! What's not to love about it....Patrick Swayze! The music! The dancing! Nobody puts Baby in a corner! You can't help but cheer when Johnny pulls her out of the corner and it taught us that carrying a watermelon is the best way to get into a private party and break the ice....

Snatch

Unscrupulous boxing promoters, violent bookmakers, a Russian gangster, incompetent amateur robbers, and supposedly Jewish jewelers fight to track down a priceless stolen diamond....It wouldn't normally be my type of film but it's so funny and full of people I recognised when I first watched it....Vinnie Jones, Brad Pitt, Jason Statham, Morgan off The Walking Dead & Frank Butcher off Eastenders...The language is so bad though but if they didn't swear it just wouldn't be the same...Not one for the kids...hehehe

Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins is one of that select group of films that can truly be called Classic....It has such an amazing soundtrack! Chim Chim Cher-ee, A spoonful of sugar, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Let's Go Fly a Kite,  Feed the Birds.....It has delightful scenes....A tea party on the ceiling. The fox hunt on merry-go-round horses and dancing on the rooftops of London and such memorable characters.....As a child I loved it and now my girls love it too...

Cool Runnings

Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, it's bobsled time.....I see pride! I see power! I see a bad-ass mother who don't take no crap off of nobody! Two of my favourite movie quotes ever...

Based on a real scenario at the 1988 Olympics, this comedy focuses on the trials and tribulations of the first ever Jamaican bob-sled team and their coach (John Candy). Derice Bannock is due to qualify for Jamaica's track team but due to an accident his hopes are dashed. He finds out that a gold-medallist lives in Jamaica, former US resident and bob-sled champion Irv Blitzer (Candy) and persuades him to coach a team for entry into the 1988 Olympics. However, the team Bannock puts together has never sat in a bob-sled let alone seen snow.

This is such a great feel good family film....It is absolutely hilarious with plenty of slapstick comedy, one liners and colourful characters. I do cry at the end everytime....My girls also love it....They watch it at least once a month...

Con Air

Another action film which I love....It seems like such a guy's movie. Lots of violence, explosions and bad guys....There are so many funny moments considering it is so violent....

Former Army Ranger Cameron Poe (Nicolas Cage) is returning home on parole to his wife and child after serving eight years for manslaughter. The plane he is flying on is a special convict-only transport plane filled with some of the meanest and deadliest villains of them all. Once in the air the plane is hijacked by convict Cyrus 'The Virus' Grissom (John Malkovich), who gets rid of the plane's crew at the first scheduled stop, picking up more convicts as he does so. But US Marshal Vince Larkin (John Cusack) is already on his trail. Poe does his best to stop Grissom from escaping with the group of convicts, and just to complicate matters further his diabetic cellmate Baby-O reveals that he will die if he does not receive his next insulin injection within two hours.

South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut

I don't like South Park usually but this film has to make my top 10. It is crude and full of bad language....It was so bad that it was good....

There is also funny memories for me to do with this film....My parents fostered kids and one of the kids was at my house when my parents were at a fostering meeting....While in my care one of the foster kids watched this film and started singing one of the songs from it....He was about 13 years old. In my opinion he should have known better.....I got in more trouble from my parents than the boy did....lol

Labyrinth

Surely everybody has seen Labyrinth. A selfish 16-year old girl is given 13 hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King. This is a classic fantasy film....My girls watched it for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it....I think it's a fantastic film...It's so cheesy with the best 80's music!

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

I can't believe this film is so old but on the other hand I can. I first watched it at school....Back in the day when people would bring videos in to watch at the end of term....As a lesson was only an hour long I only got to watch about 50 minutes of it....In the next class the teacher wouldn't let us watch it as it was classed as something like a 15 film and at the time my friends and I were about 12 years old...lol

Who said sequels aren't any good? The special effects still amaze me....I have probably seen this film more times than any other....

Hasta la vista, baby

What films would be in your top 10?

  1. That's a pretty good list. I think I'd find it hard to narrow it down to my favourite top 10, maybe I could go with the top 10 that I've watched many times? Terminator has to be one (well all of them but yes, 2 is my favourite, girl power!) I have to confess, I've never managed to watch Titanic all the way through.

  5. When we went to Jamaica we were so lucky to go to the bobsleigh cafe and the kids sat in the bobsleigh. It was an amazing experience because cool runnings was their favourite film.
