I was a terrible teen.....

At some point every child asks uncomfortable questions about alcohol, smoking and the past lives of their parents....Becky has got to that stage now. I am very careful as to what I say.....When I was 12. The same age as her I was so different to Becky. I was no angel....

I worry about the future with Becky and with Ellie when they are older....I knew what I was like as a teen....I hope they don't get up to what I did.....Eek!

I started smoking when I was about 11....Not long after starting secondary school! Shock, horror.....Everyone did it! I was such a sheep and went along with the crowd....In the school toilets, round the back of the buildings and I remember hanging out of my bedroom window. From the age of about 13 there was one shop in the town where I could buy cigarettes....This was back in the day where you just had to look 16 to buy them. No I.D needed....I remember getting 10 for about £1 something.....

I first got drunk when I was 13. I was sleeping at my friends house and her mam was more relaxed than mine. We didn't have to be in until 11pm! What!!....I had 4 bottles of the alcopop Castaway? Does anyone else remember it and did anyone else make Blastaways? Diamond White cider and a bottle of Castaway? lol It was such a fun night until my friend fell and twisted her ankle and tore some ligaments.... Climbing a big hill in huge platform shoes seemed like a good idea at the time...

My friends and I used to go to the Ice rink on a Saturday to look for lads....At 14 it was just a status thing to say you had a boyfriend....There was the odd kiss but that is it.....

I bunked off school a lot....My friend and I were terrible. If we had money we would sit in McDonalds until 10am until we knew our mams had been shopping then we were free to walk around the shops....

When I was about 14 my dad nearly had a fit with me....My mam was going to throw some jeans out that had worn on the bottom of the legs and I decided to cut them into shorts....Short shorts! I remember running down the stairs to the front door and my dad was stood there in shock, flapping about and saying to my mother "you can't let her go out like that".....I was out of the door before he had chance to stop me.....I never say those shorts again. I know my dad found them and binned them....

At 14 I went out drinking properly for the first time.....Eek! My friend's neighbour was older and we tagged along with him and his friends...Nobody asked us for I.D or refused to serve my friend and I so that was the start of my pubbing and clubbing times.....

Sundays were for sleeping and I could sleep through anything and did....Sometimes just getting up for the start of the Top 40 on the radio. Yes it used to start at 4pm....lol

I did have my moments but I could have been worse....There are some thing I did that I would go crazy if my girls did them now or in their teen years....Eek. I can now understand why my parents used to go crazy with me.....

Thinking about what I was like I am so glad there was no social media.....I dread to think of some of the photos on Instagram & the statuses on Facebook....lol

Please tell me I wasn't the only one who was like this!

  2. I'm not sure how I feel about these ever looming teenage years! I didn't drink but then I had mental health issues I kept from my family and had a painful teenage period so I think a bit of drink would be better! I don't know what they'll get up to its so worrying!xx

  3. It's all part of growing up - better to educate against the dangers than to "forbid" something.

  4. 16 was my age to rebel- smoking drinking , ear piercing ,sex, hair dying -these days I am praying that my beautiful 14 year old aughter manages get to that age before experimenting with all those things- I think she will as I have always made it easy for her to talk with me about anything- whereas my mum didn't but she was strict which was good. My daughter hates the smell of smoke and the taste of alcohol which is good. but dresses like a 16 year old already. She thinks men are immature and says unless they have planned a decent career she is not interested !! so good start and I preay it continues in this good vein
