Swimming - #WotW

This week my Word of the Week has to be.....

The whole week has revolved around Ellie and her swimming lessons with the school.....They get an hour in the pool and she's been every day this week and she will be going every day next week too.....

She has never been swimming before and I think she was under the impression that she could get into the pool and swim.....She had watched YouTube videos about how to swim after all.....

On Monday she came home and said she had fun but she drowned twice (her head went under) She is a bit over dramatic sometimes....She said she cried but was ok....Thankfully it never put her off. On Tuesday she didn't drown but was putting her head under the water herself.... Wednesday the teachers let the kids jump in.....That's all she had wanted to do the whole time....lol and by Thursday she said she had swam a little bit but got water in her mouth so she stopped....

On Wednesday night she had gone to bed at the normal time....After about 20 minutes she came downstairs for a drink and was covered in biro pen.....Legs, arms, hands, belly! Her reasoning was that she drew on herself because she had no paper upstairs.....Yes there is no paper upstairs because there is not supposed to be any pens upstairs! Grr!

If she hadn't have been going swimming again I would have just cleaned her hands and arms and left the rest and dealt with it after school the next day.....We ended up spending the best part of an hour trying everything to get the pen off her....It faded but you could still see it....At least when we went to explain to her teacher it gave her a good laugh....lol

There is a new leisure center opening up here in Ashington sometime over the next few months and I have promised Ellie when it does we're all going swimming....Eek! Stu and Becky as well....They're not too happy about this but they can both just man up and deal with it....hehehe

  3. Glad that Ellie's enjoying it so much. I think they do this at some stage at Boo's school, though she's now having lessons, too, and loves it. Hope next week goes well, too x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  7. Lol at the biro. We've been there but at least we could cover it up with long socks! I'm glad she's enjoying her lessons. She's lucky to get an intensive course like this x

  9. Hi Kim, it's wonderful that Ellie is learning to a swim. I always said to my two that not only is it fun, but it could save their life one day!

I'm sure that Ellie will be swimming like a dolphin before too long and you'll be enjoying regular family swim days (maybe not all of you!).

  14. Swimming is such an important skill. Both of my children have swimming lessons, I'm not confident in the water and I want them to be. I must admit I had to laugh about the pen too, I bet it wasn't funny at the time x
