30 Years of Neighbours!

Today 30 years ago Neighbours was shown on TV for the first time....It is now shown in more than 65 countries around the world and has a daily international audience of 120 million viewers.....Wow!

My mother used to watch it when I was a child and I grew up with it in my life....I have watched it off most of my life....

My first real memory from was of course Scott and Charlene's wedding...Such an iconic moment!!

In the early days my favourite character had to be Joe Mangle and I remember when another of my favourite characters Daphne who ran the coffee shop dying...Did you know she was the first of the main characters to die in the show?

The show`s longest-running character was Helen Daniels who appeared until episode 2,965, when Anne Haddy was forced to give up her role due to ill health.

Neighbours launched the acting careers of Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, Pia Miranda, Radha Mitchell, Jason Donovan and Jesse Spencer, as well as the music careers of Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia, Holly Valance and Delta Goodrem.

My favourite couple in Neighbours in Karl and Susan Kennedy....They have lived in Erinsborough for over 20 years now.....I loved the family dynamic they had with their children Billy, Libby & Malcolm.....The best storyline they had though was Karl's affairs firstly with Sarah his receptionist and the evil Izzy.....

Channel 5 are celebrating.....They have some special shows on later tonight which I can't wait for!!

The Stars Reunite, 10pm
Stars past and present, including Kylie (Charlene Robinson), Jason (Scott Robinson) and Guy Pearce (Mike Young), reflect on their fond memories of being on Ramsay Street, which turned them into household names. Hosted by Stefan Dennis and Tim Phillipps, who play bad boy Paul Robinson and his nephew Daniel respectively, the show will also see the likes of Craig McLachlan (Henry Ramsay) and Mark Little (Joe Mangel) offering up their own nostalgic anecdotes.

Scott and Charlene Get Married, 11.30pm
Ramsay Street sees the long-awaited matrimonials of a much-loved couple. The episode is famous for Charleneʼs new romantic style wedding dress in ivory silk and chantilly lace and the inclusion of the entire cast.

Neighbours: The First Episode, 11.55pm
Young Danny Ramsay (David Clencie) has a nightmare vision of the streetʼs residents howling with laughter as he stands outside in nothing but his pyjamas, and Des prepares for his wedding to Lorraine.
