Aquabot 2.0 - Review!!

Recently we were sent a a Hexbug Aquabot 2.0 to have a play with....

Part pet, part toy, the HEXBUG Aquabot 2.0 provides kids with the fun experience of having a pet fish, without all the messy clean-up. The portable fishbowl allows kids to bring their pet fish with them wherever they go!

Building off the wildly popular HEXBUG Aquabot Shark and Clownfish, comes HEXBUG Aquabot 2.0, available in two styles, the Angelfish and Hammerhead Shark, and ten translucent colors.

Powered by electro-magnetic propulsion and an automatic on and off sensor that activates when submerged in water, these aquatic fish propel around to explore their environment, swimming, diving and changing directions. After five minutes without activity, the Aquabot 2.0 will go into sleep mode and wake when activated.

The first impressions were great....It looked very futuristic and we loved the colour....

The girls were keen to give it a go so we thought we would try it in Becky's Robofish bowl.....Just a circular plastic bowl....To be honest we weren't very impressed....It just swam around and around and only held my girls attention for at the most 5 minutes.....

Ellie was in the bath on Sunday evening and I had a great idea of trying it in there with her.....A fantastic idea of mine actually! It worked brilliantly. It swam up and down, different directions and changed directions.....It just keeps going for about 5 minutes and if you want longer you pick it up and put back in for another 5.....Ellie played with it until the end of her bath which was a good half hour....She has since asked to go in the bath just so she can play with it again....

After a bit of a shaky start with the Aquabot 2.0 I can thoroughly recommend it....These are a lot like other electronic fish such as Robofish but better.....They act like they have a mind of their own....

These are ideal bath toys for older children....Although you can buy a tank for it which I've read are rather good....On the Hexbug website they have a RRP of £9.99 which I think is reasonable for hours of fun it can provide.....

We were sent the Aquabot 2.0 free of charge to try...This is my honest review....All thoughts and opinions are our own...

  1. I've given two of these as birthday gifts in the past month, lol, they just seem like such fun. My only worry with the bath would be if any bath products (shampoo etc) would interfere with it, but I guess the electronics are waterproofed anyway so shouldn't be a problem.

Ethan's got one for his birthday, he's obsessed with the idea of them

    1. Eek I never thought about the bath products effecting it....There was no bubble bath in Ellie's bath at least...

  2. Good review. They look good. I can imagine that it would be good in the bath. Although spotted the bath products comment.....I might still need to keep an eye out though.
