We are getting excited for Christmas. #WotW

This week my Word of the Week is:

I love December....It may be my favourite month of the year....Obviously there is Christmas but I love the run up to the big day....

Yesterday our elf arrived and brought the advent calendars, the mini Christmas tree which my girls fight over every year....lol and the book Santa is coming to Northumberland! I have some great things planned for our elf this year....My girls are still so excited over it. Becky doesn't believe but Ellie's excitement is infectious....

Ellie has been funny this week....All she has talked about is the elf....On Wednesday evening we had to leave out some cheese and a glass of water because that's what elves like to eat and she would need a snack after her long journey...lol

We were joking that when the elf goes back to see Santa each night she might take Ellie's monkey (her favourite soft toy) for a trip....Ellie was not amused by this....She won't let Monkey out of her sight now. I think I have traumatised her....Oops!

Over this week we have been crafting, had an unplanned visit to the park, had a few frosty mornings, drank so much hot chocolate and watched the last episode of The Missing! Wow! It was amazing....There were some points in it where I held my breath....Eek!

The last of the presents are being delivered....I checked my Amazon account and realised a couple of things had not arrived even though I ordered them....This is the first time I've ever had any trouble with Amazon. It was quickly sorted out though....I was a little annoyed as I had bought a doll or thought I had....It was all set to be delivered by the 26th of November and then the status changed and they didn't know when it was coming....I messaged to check and it was out of stock and the price had nearly doubled....Stuff it. I went looking for another doll....I ordered a My Friend Cayla Princess Doll. It was only £24.99....The same one is on Tesco for £64 and Asda for £45. So I think I got myself a bit of a bargain.....

Next week it is Ellie's school Christmas performance....She told me she needed a bird costume and had me all set for making one....It turns out she doesn't....She just needs brown leggings or tights....We don't have any and I am not buying any for one school play....Other parents are saying they are just sending in black leggings and I am going to do the same....Phew!

Over the weekend we are making gingerbread houses....Yes more than one....Last year we made one and the girls argued when making it so they're getting one each and we have Christmas jumpers to decorate as they are having their Christmas jumper day next week at school.....I bought a kit from The Works....So much cheaper than buying a jumper and a lot more fun....

It is crazy to think that two weeks today my girls finish school for Christmas.....I really need to get my bottom into gear and start wrapping the presents....I need that done before they are home all day with me.....

  2. I've never really bought into the Elf idea, I did try advent letters from Santa's Elves last year but I kept forgetting to leave them out...thankfully they arrived mostly when the kids got home from school, oops! Christmas does seem incredibly close now! I loved The Missing, I think the final was the highlight of my week...well, apart from getting married hahaha!

    1. Ohh! The person who created the idea of he elves must be raking the money in. I hadn't thought of that....It's amazing how something so simple can be so popular x

  5. This is cool. We are not ready yet. I hope to put the tree up next week after the carpet is laid in the lounge! :) We had an advent but naughty casper ate it and then he was ill. So we need to get a new one!

  9. There's a lot to be excited about in your household! I love the word Excited - it sums up our house too!
Our Elf came back this week too, and the children are absolutely thrilled each morning finding Ellis, especially if he ends up in the room. That really is magic!
Oh yes, I'm started to get excited about Christmas although I'm not that organised either. As it's my daughter's bday the last week of November I find it hard to do Xmas stuff before then. But yes, like you I have two weeks to get things sorted...then they finish school for 2016...seriously, where has the year gone?!
    xx
