Children’s books for Christmas. #storiesforlife

Last week I was lucky enough to receive a very exciting package sent from the publisher Penguin Random House Children’s books, home of the iconic imprints Ladybird and Puffin Books and authors like Roald Dahl, Jeff Kinney and Jacqueline Wilson.....

We were sent three books aimed at 7 to 12 year olds.....I think these will be perfect for Ellie my 9 year old....She is really into reading lately and loves to read in bed. She has moved on from the books she used to read and is looking for something more challenging....Some nights there has been little arguments between her and Becky her 14 year old sister as she is starting to read some of her books....Now Ellie will have some of her own.....I have a feeling my teen will enjoy these books too.....

Clover Moon - Jacqueline Wilson

Clover Moon’s imagination is her best escape from a life of hardship in poverty-stricken Victorian London. When tragedy plunges her into a world of grief, Clover realizes that everything she loved about the place she called home is gone. Clover hears of a place she could run to, but where will she find the courage – and the chance – to break free? And could leaving her family be just what she needs to find a place that really feels like home?

The Witch's Vacuum Cleaner - Terry Pratchett

Poor Mr Swimble is having a bad day. Rabbits are bouncing out of his hat, pigeons are flying out of his jacket and every time he points his finger, something magically appears – cheese sandwiches, socks . . . even a small yellow elephant on wheels! It’s becoming a real nuisance – and he’s allergic to rabbits. His friends at the Magic Rectangle can’t help, but the mysterious vacuum cleaner he saw that morning may have something to do with it . . .

Fourteen fantastically funny stories from master storyteller Sir Terry Pratchett, full of food fights, pirates, wizards and crooks!

The Christmasaurus - Tom Fletcher

Forget everything you thought you knew about the North Pole, and set off on a Christmas Eve adventure with boy named William Trundle, an elf named Snozzletrump, Santa Claus (yes! The real Santa Claus!), a nasty piece of work called the Hunter, and a most unusual dinosaur....

Over the last year Ellie has stopped having a bedtime story and reads alone....I think after having a peek at these I will starting the bedtime stories up again....hehehe

I think I would have loved these books when I was my girls age....When I was a tween/teen I was a big fan of Roald Dahl....I think I had all of the books he had written and I would read them over and over....It is hard to pick my favourite but it would have to be between Matilda, George's Marvellous Medicine, The Witches and Boy....I have passed my love of Roald Dahl onto my girls....They have already read plenty of his books and they adore them.....

This blog post is in partnership with Penguin Random House Children’s Books....We were sent these books free of charge in exchange for this post....
