It's all new....

Hello Friday!! Back into a routine of school and once again longing for the weekend.....

This week my Word of the Week has to be....

The girls went back to school on Wednesday and even the beginning of the week involved something new....Sorting their new uniforms out....Pencil cases....Pe Kits! They were all bought just needed checking and double checking!!

Wednesday we were up at 7am which is new to us....Usually we got away with getting up at 7.30am and leaving the house at 25 past eight.....Not now.....Becky has to be out the house at the latest at five past eight to meet her friend to walk to school......

I really don't know what I was stressing about with Becky going to Secondary school.....She's taken to it brilliantly! The bigger kids haven't worried her at all, she hasn't got lost, she's enjoying the new lessons, she hasn't felt overwhelmed and has made plenty of new friends....It didn't stop my crying when she left the house on Wednesday morning though....

We had a bit of a hiccup when she came home from school on Wednesday and she hadn't finished writing her timetable out....

There were just initials for subjects...Go, Da, De, & Ig had me baffled....Thanks to my wonderful friends who have kids at the same school who helped me figure it out.....Turns out they were Geography, Dance, Design and ICT (Computers)....DOH! As it goes over two weeks I put it into a spreadsheet onto the computer with just the subjects she has and what day.... There's a copy on her bedroom wall, on on the noticeboard in the living room and another just on a piece of paper floating about the house as well as in her planner.....

Ellie also went back to school on Wednesday with a new teacher who she loves....She's been on her best behavior and while most of the class were shouted at for not tidying up....Ellie got a house point for tidying extra hard.....Such a suck up....hehehe She has already got a bit of work on the wow board outside of the head teachers office which is a great achievement.....Such a fantastic start to the year for her.....Ellie seems like a new child compared to what she was like at the end of last term....

We had a bit of sad news regarding the support worker woman who comes into the school and does Ellie's hearing tests....She's leaving over the next couple of weeks and there will be a new woman taking over.....She said she is going to ring me sometime today to arrange a time to meet the new woman and I will be having words telling her about the school failing to inform Ellie's new teacher about her having hearing loss (She's just about deaf in one ear).....I'm not just telling tales....We've had issues in the past where people haven't been informed and a couple of years ago Ellie ended up at the back of the class with her deaf ear facing a old teacher and she got into trouble for not listening.....The lovey hearing support worker went in and educated all the teachers involved with Ellie about hearing loss.....They do need to communicate more and that's what the support worker will tell them.....The school thinks just because Ellie doesn't have a hearing aid she's fine.....She doesn't have a hearing aid because one wouldn't make a difference to her!! Grrr! Rant over! lol

The girls have had a great week.....Becky comes home later then Ellie and Ellie has been sat next to the door waiting for her to come in....Like a little lost puppy.....hehehe They have got on better too.....Telling each other about their days.....It's all exciting and new for them at the moment.....I hope it continues!

  12. Secondary school is a big step but it sounds like she is thriving. I would have done the same with the timetables and had copies everywhere. My eldest's high school timetable ran over 2 weeks and was really confusing. I often got confused trying to remember if we were on red or green week! #wotw

  15. Our youngest just started secondary school this year so both bys and either me or Simon have to to be out of the house at 7.10am to catch the bus ... and there is all the timetable and after school activities to sort out. I am sure it is us parents who stress far more about everything than our children do! Hopefully the issues with Ellie's hearing will resolve soon - good luck!
